Peek-A-Boo: A brainchild of the author
Scenario: You have a USB drive in your hand and are scratching your head as to insert it into your PC or not ( the style of to-do-or-not-to-do) . Because you know it has viruses and you cant format it also because of the all important data. So this is where i step in or rather this post steps in. (It has legs, mind you)
OK. To make all the work easy for you. Just follow the following steps.
First Download TREE SIZE PROFESSIONAL from the publisher site.
OR Download TREE SIZE PROFESSIONAL from CNET
The above mentioned software shows the disk space usage of your drives in graphical format and has a couple of features which a disk space management software might have. But the real ‘ting’ happened one day and i used this to remove a virus from my pendrive.
Give it a try! It will save you lots of hair pulling and wide eyed frustation caused by viruses.

As we know viruses get activated when you access the USB drive. But if TREE SIZE accesses the USB drive then virus is not activated. So i thought of playing a peek-a-boo and catching the virus unawares( not in your hand, of course) by exploring the space usage and then delete it.
After you install, right click the USB drive and open it with Tree size. See the listing. You will see a screen like this.
Click the image to enlarge:
Now you can identify the virus, provided you know before hand what files were there in your pendrive.
Any unrecognized file (mostly exe) less than 1 MB might be a virus.
Now delete the virus by right-click-the-file-and-delete .
Voila ! Its done .
Or you can explore the folders for suspected viruses too.
Another Cool Thing: It shows all the hidden files too. And mostly viruses are hidden. After all they cant afford to be in full-blown public view, you know
Nice info..
THanks
